As a standard, Shopify is not able to sell subscriptions. There are a number of apps that offer a subscription solution. Read about a few solutions in comparison in the blogpost here.
Subscriptions with Shopify and wallee:
Most importantly, please check with your payment provider/acquirer if they support On-File Sales or Tokenisation for recurring payments. If you would like to use wallee for your recurring payment charge flows, please note the following points:
1. Your subscription products and their variants must be created in your Shopify store.
2. Import these products into wallee to configure them. Each variant (i.e. what type of billing interval and the duration of the subscription) will need to be configured in wallee, so the next charge attempt will be executed accordingly.
Read more about how to set up your Shopify subscription products here in our documentation.
3. Lastly, create a Charge Flow.
It is important to not manipulate the timings of the next charge flow. When the end consumer purchases a product at a certain time, that exact hour will be the next charge attempt at the next billing interval. If you manipulate the time manually, a double charge may incur at your end consumer.
Customer Account in Shopify:
By forcing your customers to create a customer account, allows your customers to access some details about their subscriptions. They can download a PDF invoice of each interval bill and are able to suspend, change or cancel their subscriptions within their customer account in Shopify. Enforcing them to an account, will give you ease when managing the subscriptions.
